چکیده
In Chile, office buildings are typically reinforced concrete (RC) structures whose lateral load-resisting system comprises core structural walls and perimeter moment frames (i.e., dual wall-frame system). the last 20 years, nearly 800 new have been built in country roughly 70% of them less than ten stories. Although seismic performance these was deemed satisfactory previous earthquakes, their actual collapse potential is indeed unknown. this study, Chilean code-conforming mid-rise RC assessed considering different hazard levels high moderate activity) soil types stiff moderately stiff). Following FEMA P-58 methodology, 3D nonlinear models four representative archetypes were subjected to sets subduction ground motions. Incremental dynamic analysis used develop fragilities. The results indicate that comply with ‘life safety’ risk level defined ASCE 7, which consistent observed behavior recent mega-earthquakes Chile. However, not uniform. Differences probabilities significant, might revisions current design code be necessary.

Nonlinear Responses of High-rise Buildings in Giant Subduction Earthquakes
With the exception of the 2003 Tokachi-Oki earthquake, strong ground recordings from large subduction earthquakes (Mw > 8.0) are meager. Furthermore there are no strong motion recordings of giant earthquakes. However, there is a growing set of high-quality broadband teleseismic recordings of large and giant earthquakes. In this thesis, we use recordings from the 2003 Tokachi-Oki (Mw 8.3) earthq...
متن کاملprogressive collapse evaluation of rc symmetric and asymmetric mid-rise and tall buildings under earthquake loads
plan irregularity causes local damages being concentrated in the irregular buildings. progressive collapse is also the collapse of a large portion or whole building due to the local damages in the structure. the effect of irregularity on the progressive collapse potential of the buildings is investigated in this study. this is carried out by progressive collapse evaluation of the asymmetric mid...
متن کاملPerformance of Mid-rise Buildings with Tubular Structure Under the Effect of Near Field Earthquakes
The aim objective of this study is to investigate the effects of near-field earthquakes on the response of mid-rise buildings with tubular structure. For this purpose, a 20-story building with a square plan of six by six bays, all with 6 m span, and story height of 3.70 m is considered. Axial force of columns, shear lag, and inter-story drift values are used as the main response parameters. N...
متن کاملSeismic Damage Assessment of RC Buildings Subjected to the Rotational Ground Motion Records Considering Soil-Structure Interaction
The significance of the seismic rotational components have been overlooked in the seismic evaluation of structural behavior. As researchers have measured seismic components more accurately using sensitive rotational velocity sensor, it was observed that the magnitude of rotational components is considerable and could not be neglected. Hence, some parts of seismic damage or failure of structures...
متن کاملStructural Sustainability Techniques for RC High Rise Buildings
Over the early years of the 21 century, cities throughout the Middle East, particularly in the Gulf region have expanded more rapidly than ever before. Given the presence of a large volume of high-rise buildings allover the region, the local authority aims to set a new standard for sustainable development; with an integrated approach to maintain a balance between economy, quality, environmental...
